- Make sure that the “bark side” of the boards are facing up. This will prevent cupping and warping;

- Check with your lumber retailer to see if the deck boards should be butted together. This depends on the dryness of the wood and species being used. As dryness occurs, so will shrinkage;

- You don’t have to get under the deck in order to use Deckster™ unless there is adequate clearance. Boards may be easily fastened by simply kneeling on them and reaching under;

- If your deck is close to the ground, here are a few suggestions that may be helpful for attaching the last board:

- Toe-screw from the side then cover with a vertical fascia board
- Countersink screws and plus with wood filler
- Trench out sufficient earth under the joist to make clearance for inserting hand drill.
