The new regulators on patio heaters have a safety mechanism to prevent a mass push of gas flow. If it senses too much pressure, it will automatically turn off. This can occur when changing tanks or during the initial start up of a new heater.

Reset the regulator to allow gas to flow back into the patio heater burner. To reset the regulator, turn the heater off and disconnect the regulator from the tank.

Wait for 30 seconds and reconnect the hose and regulator to the tank.

Turn on the propane tank, turning the knob VERY slowly and only a ¼ turn. Wait 30 seconds and then follow the lighting instructions.

Once the heater is lit, then turn up the valve on the propane tank.

To prevent it from happening again always turn off your heater before turning off the propane tank.
